Research on essential oils has shown that they can improve sleep and mental clarity, elevate mood, and help to manage anxiety and stress. Essential oils are most frequently applied topically or used aromatically.
Because we are talking about emotions, I should mention the limbic system. The limbic system is a system of nerves and networks in the brain that controls basic emotions and drives. It is the emotional brain. It supports five major functions: emotions, behavior, motivation, long-term memory, and sense of smell. Essential oils can be used to tap directly into the limbic system to stimulate memories and emotions. As you inhale essential oils, the tiny molecules enter the nasal cavity and pass by the olfactory bulb. Your olfactory bulb is a part of your limbic system and therefore your response to an aroma is going to be emotional before it can be rational.
Essential oils can support us with building confidence because they can help manage the feelings of fear, stress, and nervous tension that prevent us from being who we want to be.
Below are some single oils that can promote feelings of confidence. Because you may experience an emotional sensation when inhaling essential oils, choose that ones that make you feel good. Sometimes we just don’t connect well with a particular smell, so if you get a negative or unpleasant feeling choose another one. These oils can be blended together or used individually.
Right now my favorite blend is Pine, Cypress, and Orange. 🙂
Day 5 To-Do: Take a few minutes to research essential oils and their benefits. I don’t recommend rushing to the grocery to buy oils if you don’t have any at home, as these aren’t pure and can have additional ingredients added to them. But if you do have some, especially those listed above, take a few moments to inhale their scents and see which ones you connect with. If there are a couple you like, try making a small blend to see if the scents mix well together. Once you find an essential oil or blend you like, you can apply it topically to your skin (you may need to dilute it with a carrier oil, such as jojoba or coconut oil, first) or place a few drops in your hands, rub them together and inhale the scent. If you need a little more information on what oils to use, send me a message and I’ll help you get started!
There are a lot of oils out there. I’ll encourage you to try Young Living Essential Oils, they have a Seed to Seal promise which means their products are pure and will provide you with longer lasting results. There are no synthetic ingredients, so you don’t have to worry about harmful side effects. Even better? They have single oils and blends formulated to specifically address what we are talking about, confidence. For example, you can use Valor as an easy and effective way to inhale courage, and exhale fear. If you’re ready to give Young Living essential oils a try, you can use this link to sign up. If you do, I’ll reach out to you with more information on how to get started using your oils.
Hopefully over these last 5 days you’ve had a chance to practice using each of the things that we’ve talked about. No matter which of these five things or combination of things you choose, I hope you find something that helps to inspire confidence and belief in yourself. Personally, I use all five every day, but it wasn’t until I committed to believing in myself that I started to see a difference in my life. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or head over to the contact me page. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to confidence. Take a few minutes each day to start to invest in yourself and your mindset, and know that you are supported , you are worth it, and you deserve it.
